Weekend

We had a great weekend. Our weekends are booked from now until the end of May. Pretty crazy. We have many fun things coming up....new baby coming in the family, wedding showers and parties, wedding, auction, birthdays, etc....

Saturday we were invited to a shower for Diane put on by her aunts on her dad's side. It was so nice. It was great to be able to put faces to names and hear all of the wonderful and funny stories. We look forward to seeing them all again when the big day comes. (I think we should register for new gifts like every 10 years. Wouldn't that be fun? Natey and Diane got some really neat things).

On Sunday Connor sang in the church children's choir for the first time. He was so nervous, but afterwards came running up to me and said, "Now that was fun! I am definitely doing that again next time." Connor loves to sing, and is really good at it too. I'm a very proud mom! (Yes, he is the very serious one looking at his music book. The kid takes things so seriously.....)

After church we went to breakfast that my mom was in charge of. Yummy. Food always taste better when I don't have to prepare it. I love doing a breakfast after church on Sundays because it gets us through until Supper! Lucas and Uncle Mattey went for a little walk.

Here's to a great week.

Weekend update

Kind of funny that I would put this picture on. Earlier this week it was beautiful out and the boys played outside when we got home. We were even seeing grass! However, we got blasted again starting yesterday. Welcome back winter wonderland. I really was OK with you being gone. Please don't stay long.

The boys play a game where they wait for a car to come and then have to race back into the garage.

Saturday night Diane, Kristin, mom, and I went out for dinner and then put together Nate and Diane's wedding invitations. It was a fun ladies night. We can't wait for the big day.

Natey and Grandpa went over to our house and hung out with Matt and the boys. Sounds like they had a good time also. Nolan is into spiking his hair lately and spends time in front of the mirror after his bath making it perfect. We're thinking about having him wear it like that for the wedding. ;) It fits him so.

The boys were taking turns taking pictures....most of them were either blurry or had heads cut off, but this one that Jacob took turned out.

13 months….

Lucas is this.

He is definitely coming into his own. He must have been waiting for that 1 year mark.

He has a stubborn side to him and is learning how to let us know he is not happy with us. ;) He has a grunty whine that he does when he wants something or doesn’t want it. He pushes away your hand if you’re giving him something he doesn’t want. It’s funny.

He is getting good at communicating (not always with words, but with actions). He puts his arms up when he wants to snuggle or be held. He will pull your hand or you if he wants you to go somewhere. He puts his hands our if you have something he wants. ;)

He LOVES to give high fives and then claps for himself and gets all giddy. He winds up his hand and arm like he’s going to throw a ball or something.

He gives very open mouthed and tongued kisses.

He climbs up and down the steps like there is no tomorrow. Speaking of climbing. He is a monkey. The boy finds a way to climb on anything and everything. He can get himself up on the couch, he loves to sit on top of our "little kid" table and chairs, and pulls himself up to the bathroom counter using the stools.

He now has 8 teeth, and I’m pretty sure there are more coming because he is drooling like crazy, has a runny runny nose, the infamous red cheeks, and icky diapers (not to mention a little fussy). Crazy that he went from 3 to 8 in less than a month.

He has that in between baby and boy hair right now….different lengths and thicknesses. I’m anxious to cut it.

His brothers absolutely adore him. He has them wrapped around his finger already. They love giving him high fives, hugs, kisses. Nolan and Lucas could chase each other around our “loop” between the living room and kitchen for hours. Nolan is getting so much better at being gentle with him.

He is turning into somewhat of a daddy’s boy (he of course is still a mommy’s boy, but wants to be held by Matt all the time). He is also very much a grandpa’s boy if he is around. ;)

The boy just has to smile and it melts my heart.

I love this cheesy smile he gives when he is hamming it up.

He has some pretty mischievous looks. He knows all too well already what he shouldn’t be doing….

Recent funnies....life is never dull around here

Jacob's Valentine was like Connor's last year where we took the picture of him and did some editing like this ...

and then put slits on the top and bottom of his fist and put the stick of a sucker through it like he was handing it to them (got this idea from a blog a year ago). Anywho. Apparently his little friend Morgan (the one who has a crush on him) brought his Valentine picture back to school on Tuesday as her home box (like Show and Tell)! Her mom told me about it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nolan told me that he wishes he could have a TV in his room. Not sure where he got that from.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The boys were talking about stories and some how got talking about wolves. This turned into talking about the big bad wolf in The Three Little Pigs. Nolan said, "Yeah, he says 'Not by the hair on my chest, chest, chest'". He was serious. ;)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We were taking Connor to school today (I had to stay home with Nolan with diarrhea and Lucas had a fever last night) and on the way home Nolan said, "Mommy, do you know girls have boobs?" Did he seriously just ask me that? Yep. Very clearly.
"Ummmm, (staying totally calm so that Nolan would just talk to me about it) where did you hear that from?"
"Owen told me that. He said that girls have boobs and boys have ....umm....what are they called? Nickles. Knuckles. Yeah. Knuckles"
I had to close my mouth tight so I would not burst of laughing. He meant to say nipples....
I then told him he was right, and asked him if he knew where they were. He started to point to his hips, thought for a moment and then pointed to his chest and told me that they are "where your muscles are".
It brought a huge smile to my face. The rest of the day they would point and tell me where my boobs are. If they were snuggling with me and laying on me, they would tell me. We were sitting and reading a book at one time and Nolan started pulling my shirt up and was trying to show me where mine were. They were so serious about it like they were teaching me something new. That's what made it so cute....they weren't even being silly about it. I just tried to agree with them, yep, but then change the subject. Thank you for that lesson boys, I was wondering what those things were. ;)
Happy Valentine’s Day
Happy Valentine’s day to everyone. The day of love. There is a lot of love in this family.
The boys were all packed and ready to go this morning with their valentines.
I came home to find my Valentine’s day gift….a new washer and dryer. Our dryer went out on us this weekend and wrecked a handful of clothes. Matt went and did some research and visited a few stores, and then surprised me today by having it delivered and installed before I got home. Gotta love that. They are SWEET. I might actually enjoy doing laundry! Is that possible? Nah....
Jacob got some glow sticks from his party so he shared them with the boys and we had a dance party in the dark with music and glow sticks.
We made a special dinner of steak (it was so nice out Matt even grilled), potatoes, peas, and brownies.
The boys had their apple juice in their wine glasses and were thrilled. They had about 3 glassfuls each…good thing it was just apple juice. Matt made a comment about Nolan having my chugging abilities…. (no need to go into details!).
We ended by taking baths and then watching Be My Valentine Charlie Brown in our PJs. I had the best date ever with my 5 guys.
Hope you had a great day as well.
The biggest and the littlest…..
Weekend
We did not have a ton of plans this weekend which was nice. AND....Matt is home from Germany. He got home Thursday and we are glad to have him home.
Friday night we rented a movie for the boys and hung out.
Saturday I went to go watch some of my students play in a basketball tournament in town and then Lucas had his 1 year pictures taken. We've been trying to work out a time that worked the past couple weeks and we just couldn't connect. This weekend worked and I'm excited to get them. She's so good about getting them done. I should probably have them this week some time.
The rest of the day we just hung out around the house. We worked on our valentines so that we weren't rushed doing them today.
Today the weather was beautiful. Grandma and Grandpa came over and Grandpa played with Lucas while Grandma went outside to play with the boys (the biggest boy included). They built a snowman and had snowball fights. Their gear was sopping wet when they came inside (which is difficult because our dryer went out on us).
The weekend is already over, boy they sure go by fast.
Super Bowl
Mom and dad had everyone (Matt, K, and Kelsey, Natey and Diane, my aunt and uncle) over for the Super Bowl last night.  I so wish I could be writing that we were cheering on the Vikings, but that didn’t happen this year.  So…second best, we helped Daddy and Aunt Kristin cheer on the Packers.
Pregame activities….
Yes, we were good sports.  Daddy unfortunately could not be with us watching the game,  it’s the least we could do for him and Kristin.  ;)   (however, green and gold just do not go with my complexion…..)hehe.  Matt sent the boys these shirts from Milwaukee when he was there for a couple of days for work.  Probably the only day they will wear them…… just kidding.
Our house is being overtaken by Connor's Lego creations he is making for Matt's work.
Nolan reading to Lucas...
It's been a busy week, but with nothing too exciting.
Saturday Jacob had a birthday party. I had been gearing him up for it all week long. He is our shy one and has trouble warming up, but once he does....he goes all out. He had a blast picking out the present and was all talkative and excited during the whole drive there. However, we pull into the driveway and it's a whole different story. He started freaking out. Truly. He's crying, saying he's shy, saying he thought we were ALL going to go.....not to mention the kids from the party come running out of the house to say hi to Jacob and are all excited to see him. Jacob stayed tucked in his car seat with his face hidden. I did not know what to do, and was mortified. I felt so bad for Jacob, and felt guilty for getting upset....but I was. His emotions change so quickly.... I would say we are going to go home and he would say no, he wants to stay. I would tell him to come out then and we'll go check the party out and he said no he's too shy. I tried to stay patient.......
Anywho, to make a long story short after about 30 minutes of trying to get him to come out, telling him we'll stay for a little bit and Jacob refusing, we drove home. He was in the back seat sobbing so hard he could hardly breathe or talk, and telling me he was sorry, that he's just shy.....
Plan B....I called my parents and they were able to come over to watch the other 3 boys so Jacob and I could try again, just him and I. We drove back to the house (at this time there was only only about an hour and 15 minutes left of the party, but I wanted Jacob to experience it and so that there weren't any issues with him and his friends. He has this little group of 4 boys that he is a part of that are just the cutest. They love sports, and Jacob comes home every day talking about the other three.
It was perfect timing because we pulled up and the gang was heading outside to go sledding. It was an easy transition and Jacob just jumped right in with them. I stayed while they were sledding, and then when they went in for cake and ice cream I left for a little bit so Jacob could be on his own. When I picked him up he was a completely different kid from that sobbing, anxious boy before the party. He was beaming and couldn't stop talking about it all while we drove home. He actually told me, "Mommy, I'm glad I decided to go to the party". The things we do for those darn kids..........
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Sunday we had the St. Mary's School open house. We got to see classrooms and teachers. We went to Connor's classroom, Jacob's possible classroom next year, and Jacob's room this year which will be Nolan's room next year. Did you follow that? ;)
We also had breakfast and we got to see the new addition to the school. They are hoping to be done in March.

Monday and Tuesday brought conferences for me. Long days and nights.

Thursday evening we had a taco supper supporting a preschool for some friends of ours.

Friday night I had my work holiday get together.

Today we had basketball this morning, the boys and I went to lunch at McDonald's, and now we're going to go put a movie in and cuddle on the couch.

~~~~~~~~~
If you remember me mentioning that there are a couple of girls that say they have a crush on Jacob. Jacob has been really curious about what the word crush meant. My first definition to him awhile back was "to like someone". Well, Jacob said that he knew what crush meant....and that I had a crush on all of them (Jacob, Nolan, Lucas, Connor). I told him I sure did... in a way.
Connor then chimed in with his correction right away and told Jacob that a crush was a little more than just liking someone like a friend. I told them that I had a crush on daddy. They just all smiled and got embarrassed about that.
Well, Matt and I were a little "crabby" with each other one night and as I was backing out of the driveway, I got stuck in part of the driveway that hadn't been plowed. Matt had to come out and help me.....we shared a few looks and comments that could have been nicer. He got me out...and when I got back into the van Connor said to me, "Um...mommy? I'm guessing you don't have a crush on daddy at the moment".
