Happy Father’s Day

Happy Father’s day to all those dads out there, but especially to Matt, my dad, and Matt’s dad, John.

Yes he is!  Happy Father’s day to an amazing father.  We love you!  Thank you for all that you do for us Matt.  You work so hard to be able to provide for us and allow us to do all that we do, have all that we have.  It brings me true joy to watch you interact and play with our boys.  I couldn’t love you more.  You are a great dad….think about all the great times we have ahead of us with these 4 fabulous boys (and one more).  My wish is that they turn out and grow up to be just like their dad.

The 5 loves of my life.  Pretty handsome if I may say so.

After church we headed up with my family to the horse races at Canterbury.  I hadn’t been there in a long time.  It was a beautiful sunny day and we found a perfect spot in the shade.

The father’s (well, one father to be soon!).

The kids really enjoyed picking horses to win and then cheering them on.  Ok, so did the adults!

Happy Father’s day to my dad also.  You have always been there for us, been involved with our lives, loved our boys and are so great with them, and I appreciate it all more than you know.  I am so glad you are able to enjoy retirement, no one deserves it more.  Love ya dad.

Happy Father’s day also to Matt’s dad, John, you’ve brought up a great man - thanks for your wonderful son!  We love you. ;)

From the Heart and Dance Recital

Yesterday was the From the Heart Walk/Run.  Connor participated in the kids run.  Started in the back of the pack and worked his way towards the front and won the race.  Then he ran the 5K with his good friend Noah.  Mom and I ran/walked it….definitely more walking than running, but we did run some!  Matt also participated in it for the first time this year.  He ran the 1/2 Marathon relay and did a great job.  His work put together some teams to support some of the families that were honored this year.  I know he wants to get back into running more of these things.  I think it will be something that he and Connor can do together.  Connor definitely gets the running part from his father.  ;)  Weather-wise it was a lot different this year.  There was still snow on the ground.

Later in the day we went to watch Kelsey dance in her recital and Diane’s choreographed dances as well.

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Even though you aren’t home to celebrate with us today (you’re whooping it up in Dallas I am sure!)  we hope you have a wonderful day!  We can’t wait to celebrate with you when you get home.

Getting ready for Halloween, Cross Country, and FMSC

I got back from my trip to Europe (Germany mostly, Austria, Switzerland, and 2 hours in France!)  on Sunday and have tons of pictures to upload and edit.  Keep checking back for that blog entry – it will be a long one!   I had an amazing, unforgettable, fabulous time, but it’s also good to be home with my family.  I am blessed.

Last night we went to Matt’s work Halloween party.  The kids dressed up and we watched Madagascar 3 while eating pizza.  It was a good time.

This morning there was another city cross country meet.  The boys’ cross country team is going to state (our school has an awesome athletics fall season this year wow!) and were there this morning to start the race off.   With Connor’s new interest in running he wanted to do it, so despite the cold weather we all bundled up to go cheer him on.  Again, I was amazed that he was so determined to do it when he didn’t know if anyone he knew was going to be there.  He ran a mile and it was so exciting to watch.  This coming from someone who has never been a big cross country fan.  It was fun because Matt got to be at this one.  Connor got off to a great start and then kept an even pace and kicked it in at the end.  I was so impressed.  He got second overall.

This afternoon my mom, Matt, Jacob, Nolan, and I went to be a part of our town’s Feed My Starving Children meal pack.  Straight from the FMSC website - Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit Christian organization committed to feeding God’s children hungry in body and spirit. The approach is simple: children and adults hand-pack meals specifically formulated for malnourished children, and we ship the meals to nearly 70 countries around the world.  Connor had a birthday party and my dad watched Lucas for us.  Last year, the staff at St. Mary’s went up to FMSC and it was such an amazing experience I  have wanted to do it again.  FMSC did a two day meal pack here in town and people could sign up for shifts.  We took our sixth graders (a total of 64 of us with students and adults) yesterday and then my family went today.  The boys really enjoyed it and I hope truly got the point of it all.  Nolan keeps saying, “Chicken, Veggies, Soy, Rice”!    I’m glad we did it together.

Fun weekend so far and tomorrow we are carving pumpkins.  Nothing like being in Europe for 9 days and then getting right back into the swing of things like I was never even gone.  It’s all so surreal.

Father’s Day

Who needs superheroes when we have daddy!  This saying is so true for us.  I see my boys sure think Matt is a superhero.  He plays with them, laughs with them, helps them, supports them, provides for them, makes them feel better, coaches them…..I could go on and on.  I am so fortunate to have a partner in life that loves being a parent as much as I do.  Happy Father’s day to one top notch dad!  We love you daddy!

Here are the past three Fathers days.

We went to church, went to Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch and then went to my parents for a little while. I am so blessed to have an amazing father who loves me, my husband, and now loves our children more than anything.  He is as awesome as it gets when it comes to being a grandpa, not to mention dad.  Thanks for always being there dad, I mean always.  Love ya.

The boys enjoyed helping Grandpa with his new money counter.  We played the game Left, Right, Center and the boys loved it.  Then they helped put all of his loose change into his jar.

Happy Father’s day to Matt’s dad, John, as well.  If it weren’t for him, Matt obviously wouldn’t be around, so I have a lot to be thankful for.
