They are always coming up with some game or activity.  Love the creativity until someone gets hurt.

Saturday morning we headed over to Nana’s house.  We had a fun day.  We made a few stops – we stopped at Laskers Jewelers to dropped of my ring.  It needed to be cleaned, polished, and readjusted.  While we were there Barb helped me pick out a necklace because Matt had a $50 gift certificate.  We laughed because there wasn’t much that was in our price range, but finally found a beautiful necklace that was under $100 on sale.  It was made out of Swarovski Crystals which is where I visited in Germany.  Thanks for spending the gift cert of me hon!  Barb and I had fun shopping.

Then we went to the mall to walk around a little and the boys got to visit the Easter bunny.  Nolan was FULL of questions about this.  He knew it wasn’t the real Easter bunny, but he wanted lots of answers.  The picture is kind of blurry because I wasn’t supposed to take pictures with  my own camera and had to do it quickly.

For dinner we went to the Red Lobster and had a delicious meal.  Sunday morning we got dressed, said good bye to Barb, and headed to church to meet John and Lynn.

After church we headed to John and Lynn’s house and the boys had an egg hunt, colored eggs, played a ping pong ball game that John and Lynn made for them, Connor played online chess with Papa John, and Jacob and Nolan got to open their birthday presents.  It was a fun packed day.  We headed home later Sunday evening after watching the basketball game.

Birthday party – Bowling Style

Jacob and his friend Noah have birthdays within a week of each other and they have many of the same friends, so we decided to do a joint party this year.  Actually, we were both planning parties on the same date and then decided it would make most sense and be a great idea to do it together.  So glad we did.

They had a ton of fun.  What a bunch of goofballs.

On a different note, Matt and I went to the Big Brothers Big Sisters Evening last night and had a really good time.  We sat with his work because they sponsored 2 tables.  We are so excited because during the live auction we ended up buying a week at a cabin in Wisconsin this summer.  It comes with a boat and everything.  The boys are really pumped, as are Matt and I! ;)

Last sleep as a 6 year old and his walk through the streamers as a 7 year old!

He chose to go eat at Applebee's for dinner.  I think mainly because they sing to you and give you a dessert after.  ;)  That he so graciously shared with all of us.  Grandma and Grandpa were able to join us.

Jakeyman – you are ALL boy, yet so thoughtful, caring, and sweet.  Not that boys can’t be those things!  It’s just funny how sometimes you can be burping and farting and eating seconds and thirds for dinner, yet be the one who is always giving in, wanting to snuggle with me, and thinking of others.  ;)  You are always bringing things home from the classroom store for your brothers, that you earned!  You always share.  You have a very sensitive side to you as well.  When you and your brothers are getting into it about something and arguing, 95% of the time you are the one to give in and say, “Fine!”.  I love that you still come and snuggle with us in our bed in the mornings when you wake up, even though you are getting big and can be a bed hog!  You have a great laugh and smile.  You have a quirky sense of humor and have become quite the jokester.  You have done so well in first grade and we couldn’t be more proud!  Keep it up dude!  We love you.

Retirement celebration

Dad has been telling us for long time that he DOES NOT want a big celebration for his retirement.  He just doesn’t like a big deal made of things.  The boys and I still joke about the time that we were out for dinner for his birthday and he got word that we told the waitress about it.  He left our table after dinner and went out to the car before the waitress could come bring dessert and sing! ;)  We now know better.  We really wanted to do something for his retirement.  That’s a huge deal.  However, we followed his wishes and planned a nice dinner with just us kids and grandkids at the Timberlodge.  Last minute mom decided to invite a few friends and family.  It was hard for her to decide with such a big family and friends, but knew dad wouldn’t want something huge and it was last minute.  Dad wasn’t too happy with her when he found out at first , but got over it quickly as he enjoyed the celebration.  Congratulations dad!  Let us celebrate you once in awhile.

They have both  made it public now, so I can share that we are all so excited to have 2 sets of twins in the family!  Yes- you read it right.  Both Mattey and Natey’s wives are pregnant with twins.  Super fun!   I love the picture below of Wendell and Connor talking.  Wendell was a great sport with Connor sharing all of his jokes.  ;)
