Look What I Did…

101_3846

So I was downstairs catching up on blogging, when I thought I heard Lucas talking, but then knew I was crazy because he had been sleeping for awhile.

A few seconds went by and I heard it again…so I turned down the music and went to look.  Sure enough, Lucas was standing on the stairs trying to tell me something.

I came up stairs and Matt says, “Tell Mommy what you did!”, as he was pant less and diaper less. ;)

With a HUGE smile on his face he tells me he went potty on the toilet (well, it obviously didn’t come out that clearly, but I knew what he was saying!).

I got so excited and picked him up.  We went into the bathroom and he was just giddy!

Apparently, he was squirming so Matt went to go check on him and Lucas told Matt he went poop.  He tells us this all the time which is awesome.  Matt went to change his diaper and it was clean so he asked Lucas if he had to go potty.  Lucas nodded, so Matt rushed him to the toilet.  They sat there for a little while and then all of a sudden he went potty.  I guess Lucas’s look was just priceless.

We’ll see if this is the start of something good!

He was so excited it took awhile to settle him back down and go to bed .

****side note….added on 2/27 - as of Monday evening Lucas has now gone potty on the toilet 3 more times since last night.  Woo hoo!!!!

Brothers

101_3842_3818_edited-1 copy

There are days when I go crazy listening to the fighting, whining, crying, yelling, tattling, chasing…but for the most part these four boys really love each other.

When Connor has saved up enough points at school to shop from their treasure box he ALWAYS buys things for his younger brothers.

Nolan’s teacher just told me the other day that he is ALWAYS praying for his brothers whether it’s so they feel better, so some type of injury or pain gets better….

Jacob went to the library today with his class and they got to check out two books.  What did he decide to check out?  A book for Nolan on super heroes and a chapter book for Connor.

And Lucas is so cute…when one of them gets hurt or is crying, he ALWAYS goes up to them, gives them a hug, and asks them if they are “otay??” .  Whether they really are OK or not, him doing that always makes them better.

These are the things that melt my heart and help me know that they are going to be the best of friends and look out for each other, even with the fighting, annoying, and pushing of buttons they do with each other.  ;)

Couple random stories about these brothers from the last month or so:

Connor asked me if Santa was real a little while ago.  He said he was wondering about it because when we got home from Eau Claire (which was the day after Christmas) I got out the camera and Matt got the video camera out as the boys were walking into the house.  He said it was like we knew he had been there.  I told him of course we knew he was there, he’s magical and we knew he came on Christmas Eve whether we were at our house or not.  Then I tried to play it off on how crazy he knows I am about taking pictures of everything, so I wanted to be sure I caught the moment if there were presents there from Santa.  Not sure if I dodged a bullet there or not, but he at least seemed satisfied with my answer.

For some reason Nolan asked me about Santa being real the other day also.  Not sure what brought that on.  He was much easier to convince.  I just had to tell him of course and he was good with that.    They’re keeping this mama on her toes.

Jacob and Connor weighed themselves and we found out that Connor is ONLY 4 lbs heavier than Jacob.  Jacob is pretty excited and doing whatever he can to catch up to Connor.  He wants to check their weight ever day almost.  One morning Connor had 4 donuts (I know, not very healthy) and they got home and Connor wanted to weigh himself.  He was relieved that he was still heavier, but bummed that it wasn’t by more because of what he ate.  Jacob one day kept asking for water.  He refilled his glass constantly and he finally asked me, “Mommy, do you know why I’m drinking so much water? Because your body is made up of a lot of water and I’ll weigh more than Connor.”

Nolan and I had an interesting conversation while he was taking a bath one night.  He asked me if I knew what your nuts are?  Yep.  Seriously, your nuts.  He told me that his friend in school told him that they are (as he is squeezing his so called nuts) the puffy cheeks down there.  I had to hold my explosion of laughter in.  I asked him how he knew what his friend was talking about  and he told me that he just knew that “these” (again squeezing them) were his puffy cheeks.  This same night he also asked me what your waist and boobies are.  He also told me that the reason boys put the seat up when they go potty is so they don’t get potty on the seat.  If people would sit on the seat with potty on it they would get germs on their butt.  Still yet this same night he asked me if young people die and he said how sad it would be if everyone in his class got sick.

Noleyman, life is never boring with you around, or easy to be honest. ;)

Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday

Nolan was able to celebrate Mardi Gras today in school.  His class went on parade around the school and made a special walk through my classroom.

101_3838_3821_edited-1

What a fun day we had.  This morning the 6-7th graders had their Mardi Gras where they sell items (food, crafts, changes to play Xbox, chances to win prizes, etc..) and the rest of the school buys tickets for these items.  All the money raised goes to a different charity every year.  It was my first time experiencing besides sending money to school with the boys.  It was very enjoyable.

Then in the afternoon we had the student-teacher games.  The 8th grade class chooses the activity we play them in.  This year it was volleyball, pinball, and dodge ball.  Oofta.  Lots of fun, but man….is it supposed to be so tough going up against 8th grade boys.  Many, if not most of them are taller than me. ;)

Then we had the pep fest getting the basketball teams ready for the Tri-County tournament (end of season).

Then to top it off, we had a staff social with lots of good snacks after school.

Very fun day, but I was beat by the time we got home.

Lucas 2 year pictures

Where does the time go.    Here are a few of Lucas’s 2 year pictures.  I’ve had these for awhile, but haven’t had time to scan them.

Like I’ve mentioned before.  We have no more baby, not even close, at our house.  He is so grown up it’s insane.

Family Weekend

After the great day with my mom on Friday, I was bound to have a great weekend.  ;)

We planned a fun weekend as a family.  Saturday we were homebodies besides Jacob and Connor’s quick basketball skills,  we just hung out at home.

Yesterday morning we headed to the Mall of America and went on some rides.

Then played in Lego land while waiting for our reservations at the Rainforest Cafe.

It was Lucas’s first time at the Rainforest Cafe.  He was pretty occupied and impressed by it. ;)

Then we checked into the Water park of America/Radisson for the night.    The boys were so excited about having bunk beds in our room.  We settled into our room and changed to head to the water park.  We weren’t wasting any time.

We swam for over 3 hours Sunday evening.  The boys were having a blast.  We headed up to the room, took baths, put on our PJs, and ordered pizza.  It was perfect because Nolan (and I’m sure the others) had been wanting to watch a special Team Umi Zoomi that was going to be on and we were able to get it at the hotel.  They were pumped.   So they snuggled in their beds watching the show, while we waited for pizza.  Sounds silly to be excited about a show on TV, but it was just perfect timing and they were so excited. ;)  The boys, and actually Matt and I as well, were out quickly and early from our busy day.  This morning we woke up, had breakfast, packed up, and headed back down to the water park.  Again, the boys swam for a good two hours until our wrist bands expired.  We cleaned up in the locker rooms and then headed to the Arcade at the hotel.

What a great weekend we had.  It was a much needed one, and so great to be together.  The boys were awesome and all got along.  We are going to have so much fun with things like this as time goes by.

Girls’ Day

We had conferences at school this week, so our school had today off.  The boys went to daycare and I spent the day with my mom Edina.  We both received gift cards to Spalon Montage  for our birthdays and decided to make a day of it.  We both got a facial and massage.  It. Was. Incredible.  I don’t do this very often, but I must say I might start. ;)  After we had great  glowing skin and were relaxed and knot free, we got a bite to eat at Salut Bar Americain.  Delicious.  Look at our glowing skin from those facials! ;)

Then we did some shopping in the Galleria, or should I say browsing.  Wowsers.  So fun, but so not my league.

It was a wonderful day with my mom, my favorite lady in the world.  Thanks mom, love ya.

Happy Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day.  I spent today home with a sick Jacob.  We have had the icky crud that is going around here at our house.  Lucas had it for a few days a week ago.  Jacob got it Sunday morning and has had it since.  He missed two days of school.  Connor isn’t feeling very well, but I’m hoping he’ll be OK.  Nolan has been fine so far.  It’s so strange, a fever comes and goes, but it’s a high temp – like 103 degrees.  They have the body aches, are tired, and sometimes upset stomach or cough.  It’s a strange one.

However, we still had to celebrate.  Jacob felt better by the afternoon.

My 100 year old man

Jacob’s class celebrated 100 days of school on Friday.  They got to dress up like 100 year olds and then paraded around the school and had a cute chant that I can’t remember.  One of the perks at working where I do now…I get to see and participate in all these things my boys do.  Have I said that already?  ;)

Random catch up

Our friends Shelly and Ryan and their daughter Madelyn stopped over for a little while a couple Saturdays ago.  Even though it was a short visit it was soo good to see them.  It’s been way too long.  It was fun seeing how much Madelyn has grown and changed.  Thanks for stopping by Ryan and Shelly.

I thought this was cute.  Sometimes these “electronics” can lead to unsocial behaviors…..but hey, at least they’re sitting this close together right?!  They both look very serious in concentration.

Last week was Catholic Schools week.  Boy did we have a week.  Monday we did an all school Academic Decathlon, Tuesday we did a service project with our 2nd grade reading buddies, Wednesday we had mass, Thursday grades 6-8 went snow tubing at Buck Hill (What a blast!), and Friday we had a talent show and we had a family night where Comedy Sportz performed.  Hilarious!

Thursday was crazy hair and dress day….here is how the boys left the house.
