Hug someone today....

Have you seen the story about Christian the Lion before? I had heard of it briefly I think, but never thought anything of it. I happened to catch a small portion of it on Oprah last week. I got goosebumps from it. The whole thought of man vs. animal, but yet how connected we are. I don't know if it's because it seems so unlikely - lions are supposed to be dangerous, ferocious, king of the jungle animals - but I thought this was amazing. Random I know.
The story is that these two men adopted the lion from Harrods in London. They did what they could to keep him, moved him many times, but he got too big. They decided to reintroduce him to Africa. He started in a lion reserve and then gradual was let out into the wild. A year later the two men wanted to go visit Christian, but were warned that he might not recognize them and could be dangerous......

I added pictures to the weekend entry before Connor's interview. Sorry it took so long. It's been busy, sick boys, husband's traveling again, there just never seems to be enough time in the day. Anyone else feel like that?

Weekend in Eau Claire

This past weekend we were in Eau Claire.
Friday night we stayed with Nana. We went out to supper at Red Lobster (I haven't been here in a while and LOVE this place) and we were so lucky that Grandma Doreen was also able to join us. Saturday morning the boys opened birthday presents and then we ran all over town.

Nolan giving Grandma Doreen kisses.
Jacob opening his present.
Feeling Connor's GIGANTIC muscles. There was plenty of snuggles and reading going on.
Nana scored big with Jacob's Lightning McQueen hat and sleeping bag.
They love their nets also. They've caught everything and anything in the house already. In order to get this great picture....
Daddy had to do this. He is available for hire.....

Connor woke up this morning and said to me, "Mommy, we should NOT have gone to Red Lobster last night..." Why not? He had a dream about him and I in a building full of lobsters that were trying to get us. A couple of them pinched him. Then he got shy all of a sudden and couldn't tell me anymore about it.

Saturday evening we met up with Papa John and Yaya at Action City. We played some games, ate supper, and opened presents. The boys even got some "great" souvenirs. Yes, through a fish tank.
Now, what do we do with all of these tickets?
Deal or No Deal was a big hit with everyone.
Hey, whatever it takes to get lots of tickets.
We headed home late Saturday night.

A few funnies from the weekend:
On Saturday afternoon at Nana's the boys were getting a little feisty adn tired. Connor was playing back behind her couch and Nolan climbed back there with him. They got into, so I asked Connor to get out from behind there. He storms out, and pouting goes back behind a chair. Matt says, "Connor, come here please.....I want to tell you a secret".
Our smart son replies, "No, it's not going to be a secret, it's going to be one of your "talks". "
Not much you can say to that.

Sunday morning after church Connor and I went to Starbucks to use a gift card up that I had. He chose a muffin and apple juice and I had some blueberry coffee cake and a macchiato. We sat on some of the comfy chairs and Connor thought it was the coolest. While we were talking he randomly asked me if there was a planet under earth in case someone threw someone else off the earth, would have something to land on? What?

In Sunday school Connor said they talked about listening. They made one of those "two cups on the end of a string" kind of phone to be able to listen to God talking. We were talking at Starbucks and I asked him if we actually hear God's voice. He said, no he doesn't actually say things to us, but we hear him when we choose to do something good or when we're sad.
Pretty profound concept for a 5 year old to understand.

Matt took Nolan into Urgent care this morning. He's been fighting a cough, runny nose, and off and on fever since Tuesday. He's taking medicine for a sinus infection.

Mixed up day.....and bad mom

Connor wanted to have a mixed up day today, so....being a bad mom and wanting to have a fun last day of break, we watched a movie and ate popcorn for Breakfast, we had pancakes for lunch, and in between we had lots of fun painting and playing. (Gotta love the $1 section of Target - that now actually went up to the $2.50 section)

As I was cutting up Connor's pancakes, he looks at me and says, "Ahhh, mom....you just broke my heart." (putting his hand up by his heart and acting all sad).

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for a fun spring break with the boys. We've been having a blast.

I am thankful for having the time to read a book this week. I love to read, and when I do I finish books very quickly. There just doesn't seem to be enough time for me to read during the normal week. I can't wait for the summer.

I am thankful for naps. Connor read me to sleep yesterday afternoon in my bed while the other two munchkins were napping. I turned the TV on quietly and he read to me. He told me, "It's OK if you fall asleep while I'm reading to you mom. I'll just lay here and watch Monster Buster Club while you sleep." I fell into a dreamy sleep.

Though this weather has been cold and dreary, and we haven't been able to play outside much. I am thankful that because of all the "wetness" it will soon be green.

I am thankful for our daycare provider, Mary, for all that she does. She had a fun day planned for the kids today. It was "Favorite Character" day and the boys wanted to go. They had a great time and I was able to run a TON of errands and have two lunch dates.

We were not very creative.

Connor was Danny from Monster Buster Club

Jacob was Lightening McQueen with his shirt, jacket, and yes...shoes.Nolan was Thomas the Train with his shirt and shoes.

"....but we're at the Children's Museum mom!"

"Connor, please don't run ahead of us, you know the rules."
"....But we're at the Children's Museum mom, and I'm SO excited!"

My mom, the boys, and I went on our annual Children's Museum trip today and had another fantabulous day!According to Connor, the place has a really great name - Children's Museum- because A LOT of kids go there to play.
