Way to go Huskies… on to the championship

The Huskies football team is heading to the state championship game.  It’s so exciting.  We’ve been able to make it to all the playoff and state games so far and can’t wait for next week as well.  We wouldn’t miss it.  My brothers both coach and my cousin plays.  It’s in the family!  We’ve had someone involved in the Huskies football program from our family in someway whether it was playing or coaching since Mattey and Natey were playing.  It’s been so fun to watch.

This game was one of the best high school football games I have been to since watching Mattey play in the state tournament back in 1998.  It was a nail biter to the end.  We were all on the edge of our seats or on our feet for most of the end of the game.  The Huskies pulled out the win in the final seconds of the game and the crowd went wild.

It is so fun to watch these two guys coach.  Not to sound corny as an adult talking about two other adults, but I told them I am pulling the older sister card and saying how I am so proud of them.  I am so proud of who they are and so happy for them that they get to do something they love and are so good at.

Mattey is down on the field and is the running backs coach while Natey gets to go up in the booth and coach the wide receivers (obviously fitting since it’s what they both played in high school and college!).  What’s even cooler is that they get to do it together.

Thought this was funny.  I snapped the first one without saying anything and the only two looking are Kristin and Sharon.  They were all too in to the game.  Then I asked them to look quick.

Look at the excitement and  happiness on that face and sharing that excitement with the players.

Look at the excitement and hustle to get down on the field with everyone else! ;)  Also, sharing the excitement with his players.

The boys and their uncles.  What incredibly awesome role models for our boys on and off the field!  Future Husky players?????

Brrr….it was cold this weekend…

all the running and chasing kept us warm though.

Friday school got out early for the homecoming parade.  The boys and I met up with Matt, Kristin, and the girls.  It’s always a fun parade.

We didn’t go to the game because it was so cold, but we listened to it on the radio and the Huskies won their Homecoming game.

Saturday Connor had a football game and everyone came bundled up and snuggled to stay warm.

Connor is pretty proud of his ribbon from the cross country meet.

With Fall comes Football

Are you ready for some football?

So our family is a little sports crazy I know. but we we enjoy it so.  It’s something we can all share in and have fun with.  I love watching football and enjoy it even more so now that two of the boys are having fun with it.  Jacob is in a mini Husky camp on Saturday mornings for about an hour 1/2 and goes through different stations working on drills and skills.  He is loving it.   It’s been kind of chilly the past couple of mornings, but we make the trek out there.

Connor is enjoying playing football finally this year and it’s been fun watching his growth and improvement after each practice, scrimmage, and game.   Today he made some great tackles and he got a Pick 6 (which I just learned is what they call an interception and run for a touchdown).  This mama is still learning.

Movie Night, Neighborhood End of Summer Get Together, Football

Thursday night we went downtown to Central Park for movie night (this was the second one, we unfortunately missed the first one).  We watched the movie The Lorax.  It was great seeing such a good turnout, it was a beautiful evening, the boys ate their fill of popcorn, and we had so much fun.  Our city has been putting on and trying a lot of great things for our community and we try to participate in whatever we can.

Saturday night our neighborhood had our annual (I think this is the 4th) End of Summer Get Together.  One family takes their turn at hosting (we have dodged that job yet, but our time will come) and we have so much fun.  The main dish and drinks are provided (the developer or builder of our neighborhood always pitches in for this) by the hosts and then everyone else brings a dish to pass.  The past few times a bouncy house has been rented for the kiddos.  We also have washer and bean bag tournaments and play for trophies.  It’s pretty funny.  This year a free throw contest was also added.    We usually end the evening sitting around the fire.  We love our neighborhood, have I mentioned that before?

Everyone still awake (wide awake!) except the wee one as we make our way home….

With school right around the corner, along with it also comes fall (my favorite) and FOOTBALL.  We enjoy watching and playing it in our backyard, and even more exciting this year is Connor playing it for the first time.  He looks so darn cute in his uniform and I chuckle every time because the helmet and pads weigh more than him probably.  He looks like he’s going to topple over.  I can’t wait to watch him.  He is really pumped about it.
