Tooth Fairy

Well, the tooth fairy came last night.

Connor and Jacob still have a fever, Connor the worse of the two (which is strange because Nolan was the one who wasn't feeling well on Sunday and Mary said he had a low grade yesterday), so I went in early this morning to get sub plans ready (seriously, what a pain!). When I got home Jacob yells "Mommy, Connor got money!!", and Connor was holding an envelope smiling. He said he actually woke up last night and felt it under his bed and saw it, but didn't want to open it yet because it was the middle of the night (I would not have been so patient!). He was pretty pumped to get $5 (don't worry, the tooth fairy said it was only because it was his first tooth and because he pulled it out himself), a certificate, and a letter from the tooth fairy. He said he thinks the tooth fairy uses the teeth to build a tooth castle, and that there is more than one tooth fairy because they are so small it's a lot of work to get around to all of the kids loosing teeth.
Poor guy, tried to be excited and happy, but just isn't feeling well.

Note to the tooth fairy: Next time don't try to be so cute and creative and LEAVE the glitter...or magic fairy dust.... at your tooth castle! ;)

Another sign of growing up...

I got to Mary's today to pick up the boys and Connor comes running up to me and gives me a huge hug. He walks me to the house and gets something out of his backpack. With a HUGE beaming smile, he hands me a baggie with his tooth in it. He was so proud and excited and could not stop smiling.

He told me that he was waiting for the younger kids to wake up from nap and he told Mary that his tooth was so loose. She suggested that he go into the bathroom and just try to pull it out with a kleenex. Sure enough, he did just that. He pulled it out ALL BY HIMSELF. I think he was most proud of that. I was so surprised to hear that he did it by himself because he's been a little nervous to do it, or for one of us to do it. He's been working on getting it loose since the end of July.

He asked me if he could pick what we had for dinner to celebrate. He chose hot dogs. ;)

He had to call many people to share the good news and we had to stop at Grandpa and Grandma's.

Grandma suggested he just give the tooth to them so they can keep it because he wouldn't get it back if he gave it to the tooth fairy. He said no, he'd like the money. ;)) Greedy little guy!

He wasn't feeling very well before bed (along with Jacob - we'll see what the morning brings), so he actually chose to go to bed early. We read his book from school, talked a little, said our prayers, and I tucked him in. A couple minutes later he comes out and says, "Oh my gosh, we forgot to put my tooth under my pillow". Oops. Good thing he remembered. I was so wrapped up in his not feeling well and taking care of that, that I completely forgot about it.

We'll see what the tooth fairy brought him in the morning! ;) ;)

Yeah Connor!

Wine tasting

Tonight my team at school went to the Cannon Valley Winery (Cannon Falls) for a farewell get together for our EA. I have never been there before and have always wanted to get there since it was so close, and you know I LOVE wine. Unfortunately, it was very windy and chilly so we only got to drive into the vineyard and look, instead of having our picnic there. We had a wonderful time in the winery though, tasting wines (don't worry I only got my few tongue tastes!, but boy was it hard) and having a yummy picnic. What a great place, great wines, and it was extremely great company. I can't wait to go back there.

Ear Tips

Connor was putting together his Sponge bob Lego set he got for his birthday and it had these two little long pieces with balls on the end. Jacob picked them up and put them in his ears. I asked him to take them out because I didn't want him to hurt his ears. "They look like "ear tips" (Q-tips) though mom", he said.

The three of them played so well together this afternoon (well, Nolan was a little under the weather). They played pirates, cowboy pirates, cowboy spies....they had lots of fun names for the things they played. One time I walked downstairs because I heard Connor making these weird noises and saying "Take that, Take that" and the other two boys were laughing hysterically. I had to find out what was going on. I get down there and Jacob and Nolan are sitting on the floor watching and laughing at Connor stomping and jabbing at something - looked like a little dance of some sort. I asked them what they were doing and Connor said, "We're playing cowboys, and Jacob and Nolan died from the scorpion so they're now watching me silly fight the scorpion."

OK..... ;)

Yeah for Fall

I absolutely love the fall. It was such a beautiful day today and I can't wait for more fun to come, leaves changing and falling, pumpkin patches, corn mazes, apple orchards, sweaters and sweatshirts, football, and windows open. We started the day off with going to Oak View Nursery in town here. We have been going to the pumpkin patch there at least the last 3 years and they just keep adding more and more. The neat thing about this year is that I now know the wife/mom of the family who owns it. She works with us at Willow. They have an amazing place out there and the boys had a blast. We went through the spooky forest with checkpoints, the corn maze with check points, on a hay ride, in the leaf jump, played mini golf, and went down the big blow up slide. We plan on going back again when daddy and others can join us.
Spooky ForestMy scarecrow, ghost, and pumpkin. Corn Maze -it was awesome! This is what happens when three boys ask to do a silly one and you let them. LOVE. IT.
We got home and daddy was home from work with lunch ready for us. He and Connor went to the Culture fest also. We haven't missed that in a few years either (no picture in the paper though - for those of you giving us a hard time about always being in the paper!!! ;) ). From the looks of what they all came home with, they had a good time. When they got home and the other two had woken up from their nap all four of the guys went out to play some football.

To top off our day, Kelsey came over tonight while Mattey and Kristin went out. We had such a good time. The boys absolutely love her. It's pretty cute, Kelsey loves books right now and she would get a book and follow Connor around until he would read it to her. He said that she does it at daycare all of the time and if he doesn't start reading to her she'll turn the page for him. I could tell he loved it. She took a bath with Jacob and Nolan, she sat at the table with all of us and ate, and I LOVED being able to cuddle with her before she went to bed. S.W.E.E.T.H.E.A.R.T!

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

Connor has been wanting to see this movie since he heard they were making it. We enjoyed reading the book all of the time. LeeAnne mentioned she was going to it with her son and gave me the idea since we didn't have any plans. Matt and I took all three boys to the 7:00 pm show last night and they did great. I wasn't concerned with Connor, but the other two still have a short attention span. They did great, never being more than two seats away from us. ;) Nolan actually got tired by the end and snuggled with me. It was a cute movie. The boys got a kick out of all of the food it rained. Connor says if he could choose what it rained he would want it to rain Cherry Fruit by the Foot (not sure where that came from), Jacob and Nolan said they wanted it to rain Mac n Cheese, Noodles, Cheeseburgers, and Hot dogs.

Hubbell House

Mom and dad took our family out for supper to the Hubbell House for their 35th Anniversary (September 7th) tonight. What a fun celebration. Yes you're right, that's not how it is supposed to normally go, but they insisted. I haven't been there in awhile and Matt, Kristin, and Diane had never been there. It was delicious, no disappointment there.
While Matt was at work this afternoon we all got our Vikings gear on. ;) Like we've mentioned Connor has chosen to be a Vikings fan on his own, however the verdict is still out on Jacob and Nolan. They just go with the flow right now and with whoever is encouraging them and cheering them on. This afternoon they wanted to be just like their big brother Connor (and I wasn't going to tell them no!!) ;)
