From the Heart and Dance Recital

Yesterday was the From the Heart Walk/Run.  Connor participated in the kids run.  Started in the back of the pack and worked his way towards the front and won the race.  Then he ran the 5K with his good friend Noah.  Mom and I ran/walked it….definitely more walking than running, but we did run some!  Matt also participated in it for the first time this year.  He ran the 1/2 Marathon relay and did a great job.  His work put together some teams to support some of the families that were honored this year.  I know he wants to get back into running more of these things.  I think it will be something that he and Connor can do together.  Connor definitely gets the running part from his father.  ;)  Weather-wise it was a lot different this year.  There was still snow on the ground.

Later in the day we went to watch Kelsey dance in her recital and Diane’s choreographed dances as well.

Give us your best Baaa……

On Friday (was reschedule due to a snow day!!!!), Nolan’s class put on a Christmas play and Nolan was a sheep.  All three boys have been a sheep in this play actually.  Kind of funny.  Nolan did such a great job, even though it was only a sheep and he had one line he sure rocked it.  He wasn’t afraid, he was loud, and at the end he sang his little heart out.  He has come such a long way.  It was so fun to watch.  The play was adorable.

I was also able to go watch this sweetheart dance and sing her heart out as well for her Christmas dance program earlier this week.

A weekend full of a little bit of everything

This past weekend was CRAZY busy!  It was full of fun, family, and friends….but I am beat.

Friday night we went to the spaghetti supper for the From the Heart fundraiser.  We ate a yummy dinner (always yummy when I don’t have to cook) and there were a bunch of games and activities for the kids to do.  It is always the kick of for the  1/2 Marathon and 5k Run/Walk on Saturday.  This year I knew one of the families that is battling with cancer that the weekend was benefitting.  It’s always so inspiring to see the people that volunteer and participate for this wonderful event.  Saturday morning we got up bright and early.  They had a kids run for the first time and the boys all wanted to do it.  They started with a balloon release.  Then the boys and our friends the Hodgemans, along with Kristin’s nephew Soren got ready to run.  They were so excited and we’re not competitive AT. ALL.  ;)

Connor did awesome, Nolan got scared with all the craziness and ran over to the side with me, and Jacob made it the whole way but was in tears on the way back – he got a little frightened.

After the kids ran it was time for the 5K.  Mom, Kristin, Diane and I,  along with Kristin’s family members, Chris and Jolene, did it this year.  Kristin, Diane and I had high hopes and goals of running the whole thing (and training), however we didn’t get much of that training in.  We did push ourselves though and ran 2 of the 3 miles of the 5k this year.  It was actually quite impressive for us (or I should speak for myself and say me) and I would have just walked if it wasn’t for the push of Kristin and Diane.  Thanks ladies.

Kristin’s dad ran the 1/2 marathon, now that is inspiring!  Way to go Larry.

After the run the boys had soccer games. Jacob and Nolan are on the same team and having a blast, and Connor is having a great year.

After the soccer games Miss Kelsey had her dance recital.  The boys brought her flowers.

Seriously, can she get any cuter?  She rocked it on the dance floor.  The boys (and me of course!!) really enjoy watching the dance recitals and sat through the whole thing, even when Kelsey was only out there 2 times.  Way to go Kelsey!

Then to top it off as soon as I got home I left again for a night out at a winery in the area.  It was an event that our Night of Knights auction hosted.  It was a great time.  Any time there is wine involved it’s a great time isn’t it?

This week in review

I seem to not be able to keep up with posting these days.

Monday night, Jacob, Connor, Lucas and I went to watch Kelsey’s Christmas dance performance.  She is quite the performer and so in her element when she is in front of people.  I can’t wait to see what she has in store as she grows up.  Matt took Nolan to his speech session.

Tuesday Jacob and Nolan both had performances.

Jacob’s class did a play with the third graders.  He was a shepherd if you can’t tell.  I truly love that our kids can learn, talk about, and celebrate Christmas at school.  Again, Jacob amazed us.  He had a huge smile on his face the whole time and there was no sign of anxiety or shyness.  I’ll stop beating a dead horse with these comments of amazement I promise, we just can’t get over and are so happy with his growth and confidence.  Always something you wish for your child.  This happened to be during my library/computer time (which is only on Tuesdays so I really lucked out) so I was able to make it.

Nolan had his Christmas concert in the afternoon.  I was able to make most of this because my students were heading to band and Spanish when it started.  I do actually teach I promise.  It just couldn’t have been a more perfect day for these two things to happen on.

By the looks of this adorable and bright smile you would guess that he was enjoying himself and happy to be up there.

The poor guy.  You could see it building in him.  He was trying so hard to be OK with being up in front of all of us.  Unfortunately his bells starting falling of of his stick and the crowd starting laughing because it was cute, and then bells starting falling off other sticks, and the crowd kept laughing.  That was when it began.  The next song came on and I don’t know if he forgot the words because he was looking at us, or what happened, but he started crying.  He was trying to hold it in and and rubbed his eyes.  Miss K.  grabbed him and had him sit on her lap for awhile.  She tried to persuade him to get back up there, but he just couldn’t do it.  He came and sat on my lap the rest of the time.  This was the only picture I got of him up there.  He made it through two songs.  Poor guy.  I was not concerned one bit and didn’t force him.  Seeing Jacob go through this same thing last year kind of helped me relax with it a little bit.  I felt bad for him though.  I do think his speech gives him a little anxiety because some of the kids and teacher can’t always understand him.  Oh well.   Next year!

He was all smiles after the singing though when he got to bring us his gift he made, we made a gingerbread house, and had some treats.

The neat thing was that all the boys were able to leave class for a short time to watch the programs.  A cute story about Connor – when Nolan was sitting on my lap and decided to not go back up there, Connor came and whispered in my ear, “Mommy, if Nolan isn’t going to be up there singing can I go back to class?  I’m working on a really important project.”  This is so Connor…..how many kids would choose to go back to class?

Tonight all the ladies met up to have our nails done before the Holiday.  What fun.  We’re ready for Christmas.
