Soccer

It has been a strange and crazy soccer season.  There were so many cancellations and reschedules.  It made for some busy weeks for us.  The boys sure had fun though.  I’m going to brag a little here…so either don’t read on, or read it and humor me! ;)

This was Connor’s first year on the big field.  I got tired just watching him, that’s a lot of running up and down.  He always gave it his all and went 100%.  I was one proud mama about how hard he always played.  He really impressed me this year with his crazy footwork.  He would be able to maneuver the ball around players or steal it from them with his fancy footwork.  He wasn’t the big scorer, or the power guy, but he always gave it his all, was in almost every play, hardly sat out, and had some great assists!  Great job bud!  He scored a goal in his last game too, what a great way to end the season!

Nolan had an amazing season.  It was so fun to see him grow.  He was on his own team this year instead of the same team as Jacob.  We struggled the first game.  The team they were playing pretty much “kicked their behinds!” and Nolan was having a hard time with that.  He tried scoring a goal and missed and stormed off the field.  He then  got scored on by the other team as a defender (no goalie at his age) and stormed off the field again.  Needless to say this mama was NOT happy with that and not going to allow it.  He had to sit out the rest of the game.  We had a LONG talk about how it is ok to get mad at yourself and fired up, but you NEVER quit on your team or pout.  He could choose to figure out how to act and play, or just sit on the side line and watch his team for the rest of the season.  He had a lot to think about.

However, that game out of the way…we saw a whole different Nolan the rest of the season!  He missed shots and laughed about it. Whew.  He always went 110% as well.  I have to say….sorry to brag…but the kid ran circles around many of the kids.  Granted, he was an older kid this year and that made a difference as well.  I know it has to do with having 2 older brothers to play against and that has helped him out tremendously.  Nolan was a maniac out there.  There wasn’t a game that went by that he didn’t score at least 2 goals in.  He would just run through and around kids.  It was so fun to see and watch….and even more fun to watch him grow, cheer on his team, and be a good sport about it.  ;)  He scored 3 goals in his last game, so he was pumped to end the season like that.

Jacob played hard as well.  He had a couple really great shots/goals.  The ones that are from a ways away and go up in the air.  He is in it a little more for the social part of it, but does love it, plays hard, has no probably being on the ground (even though you are supposed to stay on your feet!).

Lucas had to always wear his soccer outfit to the games and liked playing on the sidelines where he could.

Our soccer players!  Great season boys!

Mom and dad came over later and we did our flowers.  Mom got to have some fun on the trampoline with the boys.  Matt and my dad power washed the house – wow was that disgusting and a lot of hard work.  We grilled out for dinner afterwards.

Our First Week of Summer in Pictures

Nolan had sports camp every day (he didn’t want me to watch at all so I only got one sneak picture of him).

Jacob and Connor had soccer camp every day and loved it.  Connor was proud of his hustle/speed award he received.

Connor had his first “real” baseball game (they use the pitching machine and rotate positions, but everything else is like a real game).  It was a blast to watch…I saw visions our future…gosh this is going to be so much fun.  Matt is coaching, so that makes it even more fun.  He is so great with the kids.

(Connor wants to try catching once in awhile so he is required to wear a nut cup.  That was interesting and made me realize how he’s growing up. ;) Hehe.

Lucas heard Kristin talking about going to feed the ducks at some time and that’s all I heard about all week, so we finally went to go feed the ducks.  It’s always a ton of fun, except for the hissing geese and all the duck poop! ;)  Other than that….

What a busy week. I felt like I spent more time in the car driving around, but the boys had a great week.

Soccer and Dance Recital

We started the day off yesterday with soccer.  Both teams played on fields next to each other which was great.  I of course missed some of both games because I was watching the other, but it was nice that we could be in one place.  Jacob scored the lone goal for his team, Noleyman played AWESOME defense, and Connor scored his team’s 4 goals.  It was a pretty sweet morning.  Matt is still in China, so he unfortunately missed the games, but I am so lucky to have family in town to help out.  The boys had a fan club watching.

They participated in the Elks shoot out and received a free t-shirt and ice cream bar.  Can’t beat that.

After the soccer games we headed home for some lunch and clean up and then the boys and I headed to Eau Claire to watch Audrey’s dance recital.  We stopped at Neal and Angie’s first and the boys were given some marshmallow guns (they loved these) that Neal made.  So fun!  Thanks guys.

The boys waiting to give Audrey her flowers.  She did great and I’m so glad we made it, even if it was a little crazy with just me and the boys on the road.

You’re turning into a beautiful young lady Audrey.

The ride home was quite an adventure.  We stopped at a Kwik Trip to change into PJs for the ride home and as I was buckling Lucas into his car seat he started screaming at me and before I knew it the poor guy threw up all over himself.  I had to take the car seat out of the van and clean it up, put Lucas’s dirty clothes back on him because his PJ’s were full of puke (which I just threw away), and then get everyone resituated again.  Ugh….  It was a little after midnight before we pulled into our garage.  Thankfully all the boys were out 15 minutes into the drive home.
