Movie Night, Neighborhood End of Summer Get Together, Football

Thursday night we went downtown to Central Park for movie night (this was the second one, we unfortunately missed the first one).  We watched the movie The Lorax.  It was great seeing such a good turnout, it was a beautiful evening, the boys ate their fill of popcorn, and we had so much fun.  Our city has been putting on and trying a lot of great things for our community and we try to participate in whatever we can.

Saturday night our neighborhood had our annual (I think this is the 4th) End of Summer Get Together.  One family takes their turn at hosting (we have dodged that job yet, but our time will come) and we have so much fun.  The main dish and drinks are provided (the developer or builder of our neighborhood always pitches in for this) by the hosts and then everyone else brings a dish to pass.  The past few times a bouncy house has been rented for the kiddos.  We also have washer and bean bag tournaments and play for trophies.  It’s pretty funny.  This year a free throw contest was also added.    We usually end the evening sitting around the fire.  We love our neighborhood, have I mentioned that before?

Everyone still awake (wide awake!) except the wee one as we make our way home….

With school right around the corner, along with it also comes fall (my favorite) and FOOTBALL.  We enjoy watching and playing it in our backyard, and even more exciting this year is Connor playing it for the first time.  He looks so darn cute in his uniform and I chuckle every time because the helmet and pads weigh more than him probably.  He looks like he’s going to topple over.  I can’t wait to watch him.  He is really pumped about it.

Waterpark, Pizza and Video Games, and Dragons

Saturday afternoon we headed to the Serengeti Water park at the Holiday Inn. The last time we had been there was when Connor was younger than two and he was not too thrilled about it (he was timid even then!).

However, this time was a whole different story. The boys (and mom and dad) had a blast! It's the perfect size right now for our family (it's a smaller water park) of boys under 7. After the first few times of being nervous watching them go down the slides, or having to go with them, we were perfectly relaxed and enjoyed watching them have so much fun by themselves. I can't even tell you how many times they went down them. Jacob had a perma-grin the whole time we were there. He definitely gets the award for up and down the fastest. He was a maniac. They also had fun in the pool with the basketball hoops and even in the splash pool with Lucas. We were having visions of what it will be like with all 6 of us at Wisconsin Dells someday. It's fun that even Matt and I love the water slides and swimming too.

It's so fun and exciting watching Connor finally be comfortable with swimming and in the water by himself. Goes to show they come around all on their own time.....you can't force it (no matter how many times Matt and I tried). He was swimming back and forth in the pool.

Then, daddy had promised the boys we would go to the Pizza Ranch sometime this weekend, so we went after the water park. I had not been upstairs in a long time, and it was nothing like I remember it. We're doomed now....we will never be able to sit downstairs again. They have all these gaming systems set up for kids (and adults ;)) to play. The boys were so excited. Luckily, we could use playing the games to make them eat first. Nothing like being able to bribe them, eh?! And how mean......we sat at a table right in the middle of it all so they could constantly see them while they ate. We went at a great time because we were the only ones up there for awhile. What a crazy place. Fun idea though.

After Pizza Ranch, we had to end the day with even more and rented the movie How to Train a Dragon. We didn't get to it inthe movie theater. We had a sleepover in the living room, had lots of popcorn, and kept the lights off. All three of them were mesmerized by it. Connor said it was one of his favorite's lately. I thought it was really cute.

It was a wonderful, wonderful day together.
