Youth First Baseball Clinic and Anniversary

Our Youth First program teams up with local businesses and the MN Twins to put on a clinic and all three boys did it this year.  It’s short, but they enjoy it.  They get a hot dog and rootbeer float after and they have drawings for prizes.

It is our Anniversary today and we spent it as a family!   Matt and I get to have some fun later in August. ;)  Matt made a delicious meal of Salmon, Corn on the Cob and Asparagus.  Nolan asked if we could have it again tomorrow. ;)

Happy Anniversary hon!  What a ride it has been…and I’m so excited for the rest of the journey.  Love you.

Bench Warmer by Choice

You know the term bench warmer that people joke about in sports?  Well, I don’t know too many kids who choose to be a bench warmer,  however Nolan has chosen to be one.  He wanted to sign up for Tball and L.O.V.E.S to play baseball with his brothers, however wants nothing to do with it all of a sudden when it’s game time.  He says he is too shy and doesn’t like people watching him.  Little does he know or understand that people are watching him more sitting on the bench the whole time as mom and dad are trying to cheer him on to get out and play.  After the first two games I was about to have Nolan just stay home, however Matt (I hate to admit that he was right) was determined that Nolan would still go.  Matt had to go anyways because he was coaching, so we made Nolan still go and sit on the bench if it was what he chose to do.  He looked so close to going out a couple of times.  I’m not giving up though, we still have a few more games.

Still Going Strong

More sports this week.  Jacob and Nolan have started….or should I say Jacob has started squirts.  He just loves it.

Matt is coaching all three boys and it is CRAZY around here come Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evens.  Wow.  Connor plays Mondays and Wednesdays, Nolan plays (or sits on the bench ;)) on Mondays, and Jacob plays on Tuesdays.

Nolan wanted to play T-ball (well he would have went right to baseball if he had a say in it but he couldn’t) however he has yet to go out on the field.  He says he is too shy.  We have tried many different things.  We aren’t going to force him out there, but he is going to go to every game and sit on the bench at least.  Especially since Matt is coaching and Nolan wanted to play.  Ugh…it’s so frustrating and I’m at a lost.  It’s especially frustrating because the poor kid is then begging me to play catch as soon as we get in the car after his game.  Ugh…….  I know it’s just a phase and I’m much more relaxed about it because Jacob was sort of the same (though I do have to say Nolan is much worse, the poor kid).  We just know he would have a blast if he gave in.  Heck, I struggle to keep Lucas off the field.  ;) We’ll keep you posted.

Connor has had basketball camp this week.  He’s loving that as well.  I am kind of looking forward to next week when we have no more camps for awhile though.

Our First Week of Summer in Pictures

Nolan had sports camp every day (he didn’t want me to watch at all so I only got one sneak picture of him).

Jacob and Connor had soccer camp every day and loved it.  Connor was proud of his hustle/speed award he received.

Connor had his first “real” baseball game (they use the pitching machine and rotate positions, but everything else is like a real game).  It was a blast to watch…I saw visions our future…gosh this is going to be so much fun.  Matt is coaching, so that makes it even more fun.  He is so great with the kids.

(Connor wants to try catching once in awhile so he is required to wear a nut cup.  That was interesting and made me realize how he’s growing up. ;) Hehe.

Lucas heard Kristin talking about going to feed the ducks at some time and that’s all I heard about all week, so we finally went to go feed the ducks.  It’s always a ton of fun, except for the hissing geese and all the duck poop! ;)  Other than that….

What a busy week. I felt like I spent more time in the car driving around, but the boys had a great week.

Track and Field, Temper, and We’ve Got a Baseball Player…

We had Track and Field on Friday.  I love how they do it.  All the students grades K-8 are on a “Spirit Group”.  The Spirit groups meet about once a month and do various activities. The final activity is Track and Field.  The 8th graders are the captains and the teams come up with a name and costume.  The events are silly and fun events that they play against another team.  Totally by chance, Connor and Jacob were fortunate to be put on the same team (made costumes easy).  They had to dress like nerds (Brains).  It was a great day.  The teachers all work in pairs at an event, and my event was the Basketball shoot.

One night this week Nolan didn’t want to eat, so we told him to sit on the couch.  I seriously can’t even remember what the whole thing was about.  All I do know is that it got quiet and when we walked into the living room, this is what we saw.  He cleaned it up pretty quickly after he saw how NOT happy Matt and I were.

Baseball is starting.  Nolan is going to be in Tball Monday nights, Jacob is in Squirts (coaches pitch) on Tuesday nights and Matt and I are still semi playing co-ed softball, and Connor is playing Baseball (pitching machine) on Monday and Wednesday evenings.  Matt is coaching all three.  Oofta.   Connor is so excited to finally be playing.  He doesn’t think his uniform is too shabby either.  His team is the Twins, so he liked that.  It’s going to be a busy, but fun summer.

More summer fun!

We have been having fun. Connor put on his protective gear while they battled with swords.

Jacob started Tball and is having a blast. There were no issues either...he got right in there the first night. It was great to see that huge beautiful smile!

Mattey, Kristin, Kelsey, and Megan came over one after noon and they braved it in the pool for a little bit, but it was too cold to stay in long.
