Are you ready for some football?

It was so nice out again yesterday. After school the boys and I went over to grandma and grandpa's for a little while and ended up staying for supper. Uncle Natey was staying over because he has training all week for work. After supper Natey, Grandma, and the boys went outside to play some football. Jacob and Nolan lost interest after awhile, but Connor wanted to keep at it. Luckily it ended in a tie.
In the huddle. "Go Hussies (Huskies)", they would say.

Apple Orchard and Sun

Saturday the boys cleaned out the sand box toys and brought them into the garage. They asked for Hot chocolate ( or according to Nolan, hot chocolate milk) afterwards.Today after church and breakfast, the boys and I went to the apple orchard. I wanted to try a new one, but with just the boys and I and not wanting to be there long, we went to Trumps. We've gone there the past few years. It is so nice having the sun shining. It's been awhile. It was nice to be able to actually go outside and not have a winter coat on. The boys had a great time picking apples. Every time they picked one, it was "perfect" they would say. Good thing they love apples. They would eat apples all day long if they could.

Things that have made me smile

Few funny or memorable things that have happened or been said in the Ginskey house:
Yes, the boys are finally feeling better. I'm still not 100%, but the boys are!

We were playing memory and Connor was getting pair after pair. Jacob looks at him and says, "Connor, you're on fire!"

I made this meatball soup that the boys love and this time added some carrots to it. Jacob is not a big fan of carrots, but lately we've been able to get him to eat them by using the whole "They're good for you, make you strong, good for your eyes, etc...". So now whenever we have anything with carrots in it he'll say, "Carrots make your eyes bigger! I like carrots only a little bit, but they make your eyes bigger."

We were playing Sequence and Nolan got the first 4 in a row and we all got excited for him and cheered. He says, "Ha, ha, I win. You lose." I immediately looked at him and said, "Nolan, we don't say that, that's mean and makes people sad." I got the immediate sad eyes, pouty lip....I hurt his feelings. It was pretty cute. Sad how they pick up on that win/lose thing so quickly.

Lately when we're watching TV and commercials come on with something the boys want, the younger two automatically say, "I want that ... I want that for my birthday." Then whoever didn't say it will say, "We can share it - we share everything."

I was tucking Connor in to bed and told him I love him and that he's the best. He replied to me with, "Mommy, you're the second best!"
Am I lucky or what? Second best!

Whenever we tell Jacob, "Good job staying in bed honey....", or good job anything actually. He always answers with "You're welcome". It's the sweetest thing. Like we're thanking him.

We are finally getting there........Ahoy Matey.

Nolan got better after about a day but poor Connor, he's been home all week. I had conferences Monday and Tuesday, so Matt had to stay home with the boys, with help from my dad for an afternoon. Wednesday my mom stayed home in the morning and then I took off of work. Fortunately, though it's not how we wanted to spend it, today and tomorrow are MEA break so I was able to be home. It was a little scary. Connor got better on Monday night, then he got worse all of a sudden again. I took him back into Urgent Care on Wednesday night and whether it worked or not he was put on an antibiotic. He is getting there............

I still have a cough and a constant headache, and I guess there is now concern because I have been exposed to it all. However, my doctor is out of town and I'm having a hard time hearing back from her cohort. I'm sure I will in time. I know they are pretty busy with moving into the new building and all.

*Update*

By the looks of these pictures. I think the boys are feeling better don't you?!

I have washed everything possible in HOT HOT HOT water and lysoled and chlorox wiped everything! I don't think it's possible to ever get rid of all germs, but we are pretty darn close, for about an hour! ;)

I had my glucose test today. The lovely drink and wait for an hour to get tested. Hopefully everything looked good.

I was looking forward to doing some of our traditional fall things this break like the apple orchard and we still haven't made it to Tweite's pumpkin patch yet. We go there every year. This weather has been crazy and depressing. I think we'll just stay inside a couple of more days though to get completely healthy. Maybe Sunday.

As I was coughing, Nolan had to so politely remind me, "Cover, mommy!", as he puts his elbow to his mouth. We have been all over them about covering with their arm. I must not have done it this one time and Nolan let me know about it. ;)

Connor was so bummed about missing so many days of school and was worried about what he all missed. (oh boy, it's only Kindergarten!) I emailed his teacher to see if I could come pick anything up, and she ended up dropping it off at our house. It was so wonderful of her, she is AMAZING. Connor was sleeping when she came over, and was sad that he missed her.
She had some great things to say about Connor, and it got me all teary eyed. My hormones are so crazy right now. Made this mommy proud.

Since we've been inside lately we've been playing tons of games and listening to music and dancing. We tivo the Top 20 Countdown, so we can replay and jam out. Here are some of our favorites right now...

I had to laugh at LeeAnne's post. The boys LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this song. When Nolan asks for it he puts his hands up in the air. That's how I know he wants to see it again. They ask for it over and over. The funny thing is that Matt is included in the "boys LOVE this". It's pretty funny seeing a grown man dancing to this song. Especially by Miley, the previous Hannah Montana.
Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus

This is my new favorite song.
Hey Soul Sister by Train

The boys love to jam to this one also.
Down Jay Sean

Love that Kenny and Dave sing this together.
I'm Alive Kenny Chesney with Dave Matthews Band

Good song.
Smile Uncle Kracker

Fun. No worries song.
Toes Zac Brown Band

Only You can Love Me This Way Keith Urban

I will never get sick of Dave. In fact, Matt and my song is by him. Lots of history there. ;) I like this new one.
You and Me Dave Matthews Band

Good message.
Someday by Rob Thomas

We love listenting to, dancing to, and singing with this song. Nolan says, I luz you, I luz you, I luz you!

Say Hey I Love You by Michael Franti & Spearhead

This one is growing on me. I can't decide if I like her voice or not, I think I do. It's different. I didn't know she could sing.
Relator by Pete Yorn and Scarlett Johansson

Diane shared this song with me. Like it ALOT.

House of sickness and update

Well, I ended up staying home Thursday and Friday. I haven't felt that sick in awhile. I was in bed ALL day and ALL night. I went to the Dr. on Thursday and she was a little concerned because I had all of the symptoms for the H1N1 except my temp wasn't high enough. She said the real concern was if my temperature went up, the baby's temperature is always 2 degrees higher. Apparently they don't test for the H1N1 here unless you are in the hospital, so all they tell you is that you "have all of the symptoms". Anywho, sleep, fluids, and apparently I can take Sudafed. This has been my life the past 72+ hours.

You know I'm sick when I don't make it to something with the boys. I was so bummed, Connor's school carnival was last night. Matt almost didn't take the boys because Connor came home Friday night from a friend's house not feeling well. He magically felt better by the time the carnival came around though. My mom and dad met up with them for a little bit. Sounded and looked like they had a great time.
Here's Connor by his pumpkin that he made to help decorate.
Whoever thought of having goldfish as a prize for one of the games must not have three boys and 2 cats! ;) Meet our new friend Spidey.
It sure had been cold out, with me not feeling well and the boys fighting colds, we even had to miss a Pumpkin party we were invited to go to with Matt and Kristin and Mom and Dad. Next year.
We also didn't make it to church this morning. It is so strange not doing our normal things.
**Update**
I ended up taking Connor and Nolan to urgent care this afternoon. Both of them had temperatures of 102. Connor was very lethargic. We were there for 2 -1/2 hours. It was ridiculous. Lucky for me, my very good friend was working and is who we got to see. Well, come to find out that they both have the H1N1 symptoms and were diagnosed with it, as much as that is possible without being tested for it. Nolan also has double ear infections. They only give the Tamiflu to children 5 and under, pregnant women, and the elderly. Nolan was prescribed antibiotic for his ear infections and the Tamiflu.
Did you know they have Vending Machines for medicine? Crazy. It was too late to get the Tamiflu from the drug store, but I could get the Zythromax from the vending machine. The Dr. put our info into the computer and I got a number. The vending machine is at the hospital, so when I got there, I put the number into the machine and out came two bottles to mix it. Seriously, Crazy.
We also had to miss the Young Life banquet tonight. I was bummed.
I didn't get to even start grading my papers for conferences tomorrow until about 9:00 pm.
It seems like when it rains, it pours....................
On a positive note that put a smile on my face.....
We were reading an animal book and I asked Jacob what the chicken says and he answered "Chicken, Chicken".

SYTYCD

My awesome brothers and their wife and girlfriend bought me a ticket to go see So You Think You Can Dance at the Target center. They worked it out with Matt, so he bought a ticket for himself also. They know I love this show. I just love watching the talented hard working dancers do all the different genres. I loved my sports and still do, but sometimes wish I would have stayed in dance.
I almost didn't go because I wasn't feeling well, but could not pass it up (smart or stupid I'm not sure).

It was funny because Mattey took care of ordering our tickets and Natey was going to actually buy tickets (before they even talked about getting them for me) for Diane, who also loves the show. They ordered the tickets separately without even talking to each other (NO LIE!) and look how close we ended up sitting to each other! How crazy is that. 1 row and 3 seats difference only. What are the chances. We met up for supper beforehand and ate at NBA city connected to the Target Center. I had never eaten there, and the food was yummy, especially the sweet potato fries.
I slacked on taking pictures. All in all it was a great show though, probably would have enjoyed it even more than I did if I was feeling well.

Thanks again for the tickets Mattey, Kristin, Natey, and Diane. Thanks for being a good sport and coming with me Matt. Thanks for watching the boys mom and dad. It was a great team effort to make the night go smoothly, and it did. Love you guys!

Way to go Twins!!!

What a great weekend of sports and activities it has been for Minnesota. Saturday the Gophers played the Badgers and unfortunately lost, but it was a close and good game. Sunday was the Twins game (won) and the Twins Cities marathon, Monday night (see previous post) was the Viking/Packer game (Vikings won!), and last night was the Wild's opener (won) and the play off game between the Twins and the Tigers. What a game - going into the 12th inning and winning by 1! It was so fun to watch. How about the Twins getting their way out of the top of the 12th with Tigers having bases loaded huh? I was in bed by 8:30 pm because I haven't been feeling well, but it was kind of hard to fall asleep with that going on! It's getting so fun right now too because the boys, especially Connor is into watching them and cheering with us. Way to go Twins! Now let's go beat those Yankees!
What a way to end this year, especially with it being the last year in the Metrodome.

I Can't wait for the outdoor stadium next year (well, we'll see when it's time to play baseball outside in snow and below zero weather here in Minnesota however!!)

Viking Packer football game

Last night we had people over for the Viking Packer football game. I wish I would have gotten more and better pictures of everyone. I only got a few people in them. It was a mix of fans, however I think the Vikings fans outnumbered the Packers a little bit. There were quite a few little ones and they were so good. All in all the crowd stayed under control and nice to each other. Everyone left at half time because of the kiddos and school and work the next day, so I'm not sure how things would have gone the second half. Way to go Vikings! Wow, Favre was on fire.
Henry's outfit brought back memories of how we would dress the boys to make Matt and I both happy. That was before they could say anything. Now THEY get to decide what they want to wear.
These two munchkins are only 4 days a part. It will be fun to watch them grow. )and we decided to be nice to daddy and have Nolan where the green Favre jersey, poor kid all day thought he was wearing a Vikings shirt though...not sure if someone told him that it was Vikings because of Favre now or what, but he was a little confused. At least we made daddy happy!)

Homecoming

We always get out of school early for the Homecoming parade, and the boys and I have gone now for the past 4 -5 years. It's fun now because the past couple of years Matt, Kristin, and Kelsey have joined us and we sit together. The weather was rainy and chilly all day, but the rain stopped just in time for the parade, it was perfect. Unfortunately, we didn't make it to the football game because of the icky weather, but the Huskies won!
Our cousin Sheridan made the top 10 Homecoming King candidates.
I had to laugh at the hammers. This lady was walking with one of the floats and had these 3 blow up hammers (yes, only 3 of them) and what made her decide to give them to my 3 boys who love to hit and get rough, I have no idea, but the lovely lady did. Thank you lovely lady, for the many tears, and bams and pows, and hits (and the many times I got to blow them back up!!) ;) ;)
