Weekend catch up

We had a great Saturday this past weekend. We had a lazy morning and then met up with everyone at the Oakview Nursery. Wouldn’t you know it, the easiest and most simplest thing to make, the leaf jump, was the boys’ favorite thing.

The kiddos (of course we would have them looking into the sun, but it’s still cute).

The boys LOVE corn mazes and it’s hard to keep up with them sometimes. Kelsey joined right in and had a blast. In fact, this picture is one of the only times that she was actually following daddy(Mattey), most of the time it was daddy chasing Kelsey. I tried to hold her hand at one time, and she kind of pushed it away telling me NO! She was having a great time.

After the pumpkin patch we headed to the St. Mary’s carnival. Connor was so excited to walk down the stairs and see his scarecrow greeting us at the door. The kids make all the artwork and decorations for the carnival.

House of sickness and update

Well, I ended up staying home Thursday and Friday. I haven't felt that sick in awhile. I was in bed ALL day and ALL night. I went to the Dr. on Thursday and she was a little concerned because I had all of the symptoms for the H1N1 except my temp wasn't high enough. She said the real concern was if my temperature went up, the baby's temperature is always 2 degrees higher. Apparently they don't test for the H1N1 here unless you are in the hospital, so all they tell you is that you "have all of the symptoms". Anywho, sleep, fluids, and apparently I can take Sudafed. This has been my life the past 72+ hours.

You know I'm sick when I don't make it to something with the boys. I was so bummed, Connor's school carnival was last night. Matt almost didn't take the boys because Connor came home Friday night from a friend's house not feeling well. He magically felt better by the time the carnival came around though. My mom and dad met up with them for a little bit. Sounded and looked like they had a great time.
Here's Connor by his pumpkin that he made to help decorate.
Whoever thought of having goldfish as a prize for one of the games must not have three boys and 2 cats! ;) Meet our new friend Spidey.
It sure had been cold out, with me not feeling well and the boys fighting colds, we even had to miss a Pumpkin party we were invited to go to with Matt and Kristin and Mom and Dad. Next year.
We also didn't make it to church this morning. It is so strange not doing our normal things.
**Update**
I ended up taking Connor and Nolan to urgent care this afternoon. Both of them had temperatures of 102. Connor was very lethargic. We were there for 2 -1/2 hours. It was ridiculous. Lucky for me, my very good friend was working and is who we got to see. Well, come to find out that they both have the H1N1 symptoms and were diagnosed with it, as much as that is possible without being tested for it. Nolan also has double ear infections. They only give the Tamiflu to children 5 and under, pregnant women, and the elderly. Nolan was prescribed antibiotic for his ear infections and the Tamiflu.
Did you know they have Vending Machines for medicine? Crazy. It was too late to get the Tamiflu from the drug store, but I could get the Zythromax from the vending machine. The Dr. put our info into the computer and I got a number. The vending machine is at the hospital, so when I got there, I put the number into the machine and out came two bottles to mix it. Seriously, Crazy.
We also had to miss the Young Life banquet tonight. I was bummed.
I didn't get to even start grading my papers for conferences tomorrow until about 9:00 pm.
It seems like when it rains, it pours....................
On a positive note that put a smile on my face.....
We were reading an animal book and I asked Jacob what the chicken says and he answered "Chicken, Chicken".

Taking full advantage of the nice weather!

What a busy weekend we had - the weather was beautiful and we took advantage of every minute of it!

Friday we played outside all day in the pool and slip n slide. Poor Nolan didn't have a chance with the water guns, so he finally gave in and just smiled! I couldn't have posed this picture if I had actually tried!

We have big belly bottomless pit Nolan, ribs and all Connor, and goofy my way Jacob.

Saturday we tried the pool and slip n slide, but it was a little chilly. Matt had to work quite a bit this weekend - he has a big meeting on Tuesday. The boys and I went with my parents to the Straight River days in Medford. They had a mini fair with rides and games and the boys had a great time. They also had an Amphibian traveling zoo there that Connor loved. He was soaking up all the information and wanting to know about each and every animal there. He then told grandpa word for word about one of them.

We thought the dinosaurs looked fun, but when they got on them as you can tell by Jacob just chillin', they were VERY slow - or in Connor's word - Boring.

Sunday we went to church and breakfast. After the boys woke up from their naps we went down to the path by Lake Kohlmier and Morehouse park. Connor rode his bike and grandma and I pushed Jacob and Nolan in the stroller. Good little walk. We had to stop and play at the park of course. Nolan again went flying down the slide head first - did a face plow into the ground - could have really hurt himself, but was fine besides the wood chips in his mouth! We'll see if he goes down one next time or if he'll be scared now.

Few funny things:
You can tell whether Jacob likes what he's eating because after his first bite he now says "mmmm, gooooo" (mmm, good). If he really likes what he's eating he'll say it after EVERY bite and make sure you acknowledge it!

We had supper at my parents' house tonight (Matt had to work again). Uncle Natey bought a couple of Reese's Peanut Butter cups for the boys for dessert. Connor finished everything on his plate (it's amazing what a little chocolate or candy can do to motivate little eaters!) and I asked him if he was full and he said, "No, I have just enough room for a candy bar!". Smart answer.
We were saying our prayers tonight and got to Uncle Matt and Aunt Kristin and their baby. Connor prayed that the baby is born safely and healthy and of course finished off with again asking me how babies come out. I just point blank said the baby comes out from where girls go potty and quickly went back to saying our prayers. I could tell he was really thinking about it, but we kept saying our prayers. Is he truly supposed to be asking that already?

We came in from swimming and I was trying to change Jacob, but he ran away and I gave in to the fun little game. I found him in Nolan's room reading a book in the a la nude! Then, I finally got his shirt on him and he ran away again. I found him with his slippers on (still no diaper or shorts) jumping on his bed. The pictures in this entry really sum up Jacob's personality!

Here we have Connor smiling, always wanting to please, hardly eating (as you can see in the swimming picture up above with his ribs showing)!
Jacob wearing his hat being his goofball self.
Nolan feeding his face - yes he has a spoon in the other hand, but why use that - it's not nearly as fun or messy!

Treasures

For having no plans originally this weekend, we were very busy.
Saturday we had Connor's swimming lessons and then went to the Huskies baseball game. Uncle Mattey coaches and Connor is really getting into baseball (learning and yelling foul ball, cackling the batter, etc...). However, he still loves going to the park a little more, there's no flinching when I ask if he wants to go play. Sunday we went to church, to a pancake breakfast, to the OHS carnival, and then played outside with the neighborhood kids. The boys had fun at the carnival and won lots of lovely TREASURES that might accidentally disappear one of these nights soon. We already have a treasure (A.K.A junk) drawer that is overflowing with things with no where else to go. I try to throw them out every once in awhile, but wouldn't you know it's always the McDonald's toy that I threw out that someone is looking for. We came home today with cans of pop (which they thought was the coolest because we hardly ever drink pop around our house - and to add to it grandpa won them a 2 liter playing bingo), lovely bugs that stick to the wall when thrown, suckers, pencils, frisbees, pencil toppers, and these lovely kazoo lips and glasses that you see in the picture. They kept the boys entertained for a good 30 minutes.
There was one of those jumping castles at the carnival and the boys used many of their tickets for it. Jacob was one of the smallest, but held his own. He just flopped around, or more like got flopped around, doing belly flops, trying to get his little legs to jump and stay steady. It was hilarious. When we got home and played outside the boys jumped on the neighbors' trampoline and they were all laughing at Jacob just getting flopped around. They were all concerned and worried about him, yelling at the other kids to be careful. I just sat there laughing thinking to myself that Jacob loves it. They must think I'm an awful mom because they were following him around everywhere - up the ladder, down the slide, climbing into the trampoline, and I just let him do his thing (obviously keeping an eye on him). They don't know Jacob too well yet! ;) His no fear is a little scary.
