Spring Cleaning

I am trying to do some spring cleaning this week before I head back to school. I have wiped all the baseboards, washed the floors, clean the bathrooms, and dusted. I want to finish putting together the master bathroom and wash all the windows and screens. I am having nightmares of what this ........is going to look like in five years. Heck, even in two years. I feel like I'm constantly doing it. I have visions of sweaty, muddy shoes, pants, jerseys, etc....all over my laundry room floor. I think we need to add on to it. ;)

The boys have been begging me to plant the garden. It's such a hard call. Normally we always wait until the golden rule of Mother's day (we'll wait to do our flowers until then). I finally caved into their begging and it's been so nice out lately.
We had a blast with it on Monday and the boys were huge helpers. We'll see how it turns out however, because some of the seeds were placed too close together I think. I wanted to let them do it on their own though. Lucas just hung out in his car seat the whole time telling us stories, or so the boys like to call it when he's making his noises!

This has begun already.I don't remember it being every Saturday AND Monday last year, but it is this year. It's amazing what one year can do for development and confidence. Connor is a maniac out there on the field.

I was able to help out in Connor's class one more time this morning. I helped make Earth day t-shirts for them to wear on Thursday. I am going to miss this opportunity, but so glad I was able to do the little that I was. Kindergarten is so fun and easy to be a part of (no, not easy as a teacher, just easy as a parent to volunteer). I am so fortunate that Lucas is a good baby which allowed me to be able to bring him with.

Happy Mother's day

Finally, a "doesn't make mom nervous" when mom and dad aren't watching. I swear, Connor is such a little coordinator already. While Matt and I were in the bedroom, (getting ready for church!!!!), I heard him tell the boys, "Jacob and Nolan, settle down. Should I read you a book? Come over here by me". I of course heard that and ran to get the camera and took this without even distracting them.

I feel very blessed that I get to celebrate Mother's day with my mom as a daughter, and with my boys as a mother.
There truly is nothing better than being a daughter and being a mother.
I bet you can't tell that I love being a mom with all of my posts about the boys. Sorry, I'm sure I go overboard. It's hard not to. I enjoy it, learn so much from it, and cherish it every single day. I want to take everything in and remember as much as I can about these wonderful times. They already go by WAY too quickly. It's so incredible watching the boys grow, laughing with them, playing with them, loving them, cherishing their differences (they sure are different from each other). I don't know if I knew I could love something or better yet- SOMEONE so much. Yes, I love my husband, and my family a ton, but there is something about the love you have for your children. It is an AMAZING thing.
I owe a lot of who I am and what I do to my mom. She truly is my best friend and I thank God for that. Thank you mom, for EVERYTHING. I love you! Happy Mother's day.

On the same note, I want to thank Matt's mom, Barb, for being such a great Mother -in-Law to me, and such a great mom to Matt. Happy Mother's day to you also Barb, we love you.

Boy, I am one spoiled mommy. Connor told me I got 15 gifts from them -but who's counting right? ;) I got coupon books, handmade flowers, a vase with flowers, pictures GALORE, cut out hearts, an apron from New Orleans,

this beautiful picture from Connor because I love yellow and sunflowers, and my favorite....

After church, (which I have to say I am very lucky that my husband is willing to do the nursery this month while it's our turn to volunteer so that I can go to church and not have to get up early to do both), we went to breakfast,
and then off to do what we've done the past few years. Everyone brings their pots over to our house and we lay it all out, mix the dirt, and pot them in our garage. It's a great tradition, and I hope it works to do for awhile. I love it. I only wish we could do more for mom, but she always gets so carried away with helping do ours. The boys love to help, and this year Connor put one together all on his own.
After potting our flowers, we played a family soccer game. We have to do that more.
I'm a slave driver and put all the boys to work on the garden. ;) I love having our garden and the boys enjoy watching things grow and helping pick it all. This year we're trying sweet corn for the first time, and we did beans, snap peas, tomatoes, banana peppers, chives, mint, cilantro, basil, and parsley. We always do sunflowers around the garden, so we'll see how they survive this year also.
After all of our planting we went out to visit Grandma Skala, and Grandpa and Grandma Ebeling's graves.

What a perfect day.
Hope all you mothers out there had a great day and know how wonderful you are.

Perfection

First off,
Happy 25th Birthday Nate!
I am so happy for you and the things going on in your life right now. You are an incredible person. Thanks for being a great brother and wonderful uncle.

After a yummy breakfast we came home today and all took a nap. It was nice. Very nice.
We headed outside to play and do some work with the garden and flowers. Boy, do I have some terrific little helpers.
Working so hard doing this....

Definitely called for some of this.....

and this.....
We came home to find this and watched it for awhile in the front yard.(you can barely see it, but Nolan's pointing to it up in the right top corner).

What a perfect day.
