Am I lucky or what?

Got these flowers today for my birthday from Matt. They were absolutely beautiful! It was a lovely surprise.
The boys were pretending they were the Twins hitting the ball while we were watching the Twins game tonight. They won - getting closer to Detroit every game. Go Twins

Sauce anyone?

Last night I made applesauce. A coworker gave me two big boxes of apples and another coworker let me use her saucer (I love this new toy and am trying to decide if I want to add it or a new food processor to my Christmas wish list...I am having visions of all the yummy things I can make with either one!).

I roped Matt into helping me peel some of the apples and he did, even though he is allergic to raw apples. What a guy.

It turned out quite tasty if I may say so myself. I made a strawberry batch and a cinnamon batch. The boys loved it and would have kept eating it if it wasn't time for bed.

*Update*
Mom came over Thursday night to help make another big batch. Yum.

Connor had to make a reading treasure box to bring home all of his books that he makes in school. He decided to put sports wrapping paper all around it and then cut out pictures of things he likes and does to put on it.

Twins game and Grandparent's Day

Connor and I went to the Twins game today. Fun game 8-0. We had to miss the Vikings game, but Matt kept us updated and we'll watch the good parts tomorrow.
Connor made the decision that he would rather watch something in REAL life than something on TV that we can tape and watch later. Logical decision I think.

Connor was bummed that his favorite player, Morneau, wasn't playing though. Guess he's out for the rest of the season. We still had fun though!
Way to go Twins and Vikes.

We also wanted to give a shout out to our wonderful Grandparents! Happy Grandparents Day 2009 and thanks for all that you do for us and for being a part of our boys' lives. We love you!

Happy Birthday Diane!

Happy Birthday Diane! Hope you have a super day. We're so glad you're a part of Natey's life and that we have gotten to know you.

Ultrasound

We had our 21 week ultrasound on Thursday. I love these things and am always so amazed at the miracle of it all.
Everything looked great. I was relieved to hear that this babies' head is actually normal size. All three of the boys had big heads. ;)

Birthday celebration #2

Connor had a small friends birthday party today. He chose to go to the House of Bounce.
He invited three friends (Jackson, Thomas, and Hillary), and then Matt and I and the boys were with.
They had a blast at the House of Bounce. Broke out a good sweat! ;)
Then Connor wanted to go eat at Fazoli's. (We love this place). Bonus for us we found out that kids eat for free on Saturdays. Score!
What a good time everyone had!
(I'm bummed my pictures did not turn out so great).

Matt was talking about something and Connor made the comment, "Daddy, you gave me a heart crack (but meant heart attack)!". ;)

We were all exhausted by bedtime.

Bubble fun

I was at Family night at school Thursday night and daddy and the boys had fun with a bubble bath.
Gotta love being a brother. The three amigos.

Kindergarten here we come.....

It was Connor's first day of Kindergarten today.

He will be riding the bus, which is a little scary for me. Luckily Mary's isn't too far away from school though.
Matt waited with him this morning until he got on the bus though, being the first day and all.

Funny story about the bus.

First off, the bus was about 8 minutes late (yes, I know that happens...I'm just setting up the rest of the story).
I got an email from Connor's teacher in the afternoon saying that Connor had a great day, is going to be wonderful to have in class. She also said that he came about 15 minutes late this morning, was a little teary eyed, had some bus trouble, but handled it well and had a great rest of the morning.

So I'm thinking to myself hmmm...that's strange, the bus must have really been late and Iwas feeling bad and sad for Connor having to deal with that the first morning of busing and school. I called Matt right away and told him about it and that it was a bummer the bus was so late.

HOWEVER, Matt picked up the boys from Mary's and when they came in from the garage as they got home Matt said, "Connor, tell mommy what happened with the bus this morning and why you were late!"
Connor got this big smile on his face and giggled. He said, "St. Mary's was the first stop, but I forgot to get off there. After the bus driver dropped everyone off at all of the schools, there was only one other girl and me left. The bus driver asked us where we were supposed to get off and I told him St. Mary's and the girl told him Winona (not sure if that's what she really said, or if Connor made a mistake - sure is a long bus ride to Winona though!). So, the bus driver took me back to St. Mary's". (as he's laughing)

He then said, still laughing, "Mom, do you know what the bus driver said to me as I was getting off the bus? Don't forget to get off at St. Mary's tomorrow! Ha!".
It was so funny and it was even better seeing him smile and laugh about it. Made me feel SO much better!
All in all he said his first day was awesome and even better than what he expected it was going to be like!

Happy 6th Birthday Connor!

Happy 6th birthday Connor! I cannot believe how fast time has flown by! We love you.
What a fun day. First day of school and birthday.

He opened a few presents this morning, had a great day at school (funny story about the bus on the next entry though), they celebrated at daycare, came home and had his birthday dinner choice of steak, creamed corn, and garlic toast (yes....steak. makes us nervous about what he's going to want when he gets already!), had dessert with Grandpa and Grandma over, and opened the rest of his presents.

The traditional night before picture. Last night as a 5 year old.
Running through the birthday streamers.
Birthday breakfast and candles.

He got decked out with Twins and Vikings gear. He was so excited.
We ALMOST forgot the agreement that Matt and Connor made. I don't know if you remember this, but the boys had to wear Packers gear for Matt's birthday. The only way Connor would do it was if Matt promised to wear something Vikings for his. Matt remembered this at about 7:45, right before bedtime. Thank goodness!

It has been amazing watching you grow into the little man that you have Connor. Such a smart, inquisitive, caring, sensitive, thoughtful, full of laughter, boy. I cannot wait to see the things that you do and what you become!
