Connor's friend birthday party

Connor had his birthday party today with his friends. We had eight boys over along with our three! Wow are we exhausted! They played on the playset, we went to the baseball field for kickball and baseball, we opened presents, and enjoyed cake, puppy chow, and Gatorade. It was a super day. We debated for awhile how many friends Connor was going to invite. Four of his friends are from daycare and there was one that he really for sure wanted to invite, but we didn't want to only invite one when they see each other everyday and would talk about it. We ended up inviting all of his daycare friends and four other friends. It was cute, he also has two girls his age that go to daycare, one of them being Hailey (there have been other emails about Hailey). He didn't want her to feel bad so he said to her earlier this week, "Hailey, is it OK that I didn't invite you to my party? I'm having a boy only party."
She thankfully said it was OK. Another little boy heard him saying that and asked if he was going to come to the party and Connor told him, "It's a 5 year old boy party only."
Yes that really is a super sized soccer ball. The boys had a blast with it! A perk of having a husband that works with sporting equipment!

Nolan was like a little puppy while the boys were eating, he would go around and take bites off of plates.

We ended the day with a little family time!
Jacob is still doing so great with the potty training. He even went on the toilet during the middle of the night. I woke up to the toilet seat going up and went to check it out thinking it was Connor. Nope, it was Jacob. I was so excited.
I was pinching Nolan's butt tonight after their bath and saying something about "cute little butt" and Jacob said "Noley little but, me big butt". I had to laugh. I think Nolan actually gives him a run for his money for the big butt of the two! ;)

Connor's First Day of Preschool

Connor was super pumped about his first day of school. Last year he went 3 mornings a week and this year he's going 4 afternoons a week. He came home however afterwards and said it was a little boring because he knew about all of the rules and how to sing the songs, but they still had to do them for the new "friends". He is excited about it though!

Good lesson - sometimes things are boring - you have to make of it what you want! ;) I need to remember that!

He still has sleepy eyes in these pictures! We still getting used to being up and ready to go!

Back to School Dinner

We had our Back to School dinner tonight. Connor decided on corn on the cob - we all love it. We had some non -alcoholic wine (or Kid wine like Connor calls it). Big day tomorrow - for everyone! Even Jacob gets to do some school at daycare with Mary.

Last week before school

Connor and I went to the dentist this week. He came with me last year, but just sat in the chair and the dentist just looked at his teeth. This year he actually got them cleaned and our hygienist said he did a good job with the suction straw that if I wanted he could do a flouride treatment. We decided to do one and you can see in the picture how much he liked it! I used to hate those things - the 5 minutes always seemed like 20 minutes. Now they do it for only a minute. He did think it tasted good though.

Connor asks me last week while we were driving in the car, "Why do you have to work mom?"
So I went into the whole "things cost money - our house, cars, food, clothes, fun stuff, etc...so we need to work to make money." That seemed to satisfy him. Then he started talking about how if our house costs so much money, how do people buy buildings when they're so big. I told him that people that are very wealthy and rich, meaning they have a lot of money can do that. He tells me "mom, I know what rich means, all you had to say was rich."
Alrighty Mr. Smarty pants.

We were waiting for my mom to meet us at McDonald's and to pass time we were singing. I started singing with Connor and he asked me to stop singing because he couldn't concentrate on his song. He did say please!

Wardy turned 6 this week. We gave him a treat.

Jacob is doing so great with the potty training lately. We started having him wear underwear and he is SOOO excited about it. However, his obsession with trains and cars continues and has to wear the underwear backwards so that he can see the picture.

Kristin's aunt and uncle and cousins came to visit them and we were invited to join them for dinner. They have always invited us and it's so nice to be included and to visit with them. Kristin's aunt Evie made these cute cookies for the boys. Yum Yum.

We bought a caterpillar from the mother of one of my previous students - who is known as the "Butterfly lady". We were able to watch it go through all the stages of caterpillar, chrysalis, and monarch. So cool.

In church today Connor leans over to me and says as he's looking at Kelsey, "Matt and Kristin are going to be very busy now - they're an aunt and an uncle and a mom and dad."
Here are the cousins!

Potty Training Success....finally

Yeah....Jacob has been doing awesome with the whole potty training thing. I actually walked in on him on the toilet (did it all by himself) tonight. By no means are we done and all is great, but we're finally getting somewhere.
Happy Labor Day weekend everyone!

Potty Training - Take Three

So, the boys stayed overnight at grandma and grandpa's on Friday night because we were having a double couple's baby shower at our house for some friends. Jacob went potty for them on the toilet twice. Sunday he was with grandpa for a little while Matt had a fantasy draft and I had a bridal shower and he went on the toilet again.

Sunday evening he went on the toilet for me before we took a bath and then right before he went to bed. I'm not sure how he did at daycare today, but again tonight he went before bath time and again right before bed. He is doing great and SOOOO excited about it. In fact he's so excited about we fought trying to get him off of the toilet tonight in order to go to bed. I made the mistake of flushing the toilet for him and he had to do it all over again just so he could flush it and get down by himself. He had just gone potty so "there was nothing left to potty" and he was so sad. He was crying hard saying "me go potty" over and over again. It took us awhile to settle down and get to bed. Oh well. I'll take it, as long as he keeps doing so great with it all.

My first day back to today. It was so hard. We had such a terrific summer that I had a hard time (more difficult that any other year) dropping the boys off at daycare. I just wasn't motivated. However, being at school again, with my team, getting stuff ready - I have to get motivated - I have a lot to get done yet! ;) I'm starting to get excited again!

VanGogh, Picasso, and Monet

We went to a couple of parks on Wednesday. We found some huge tadpoles, went exploring, had a scavenger hunt, and drank from the fountain at Mineral Springs Park (more like played in the water!)

We also decided to paint and made a mess, but had a blast. Can you find Nolan? More paint ended up on him than on the paper. I have some future artists on my hands! ;) The last one is of Connor's end result, we hung it up in the office.

I walked into the bathroom seeing this. Jacob said his bear was going potty. Too funny! Atleast Bear understands the concept of using the big toilet!

Thursday the kids went to Daycare and they went to the firestation.

So Connor was looking at a magazine the other day and said "If only I had my own cell phone."
"Seriously?" I asked -"Sorry buddy, that won't be happening for a very long time. Not until you're much older, then we'll think about it. However, remember I'm not letting you grow up." (I always tease him that he's getting too big, too fast, so I'm going to stop him from growing).
"How are you going to stop me?"
"Maybe I'll put on a board on your head, or put you in a box and tape it shut really tight."
"Mom, come on, that won't work, of course I'll still grow, I would just get really squished in the box".

Boy did we get our share of the fair. Great food, Tilt A Whirl, Alligator, Airplanes, Merry Go Round, Ferris Wheel, Games, Animals, Puppets, Trains. The fair ended on Sunday and we were still recuperating on Tuesday!
